Youth Exchange student for 2010

Teagan Jones to Sweden
Farewell by Club members
Report from Exchange student Teagan
The photos have been taken in Vimerby at Language camp.  I made some great friends at camp however they were mainly Australian, New Zealanders and American.  Vimerby is famous for the story Pipi Long Stockings
Being on exchange is a great experience, I am finding that while I do get homesick I am easily able to get over it, keeping myself distracted and the homesickness provides a great excuse to get out and do things and meet new people. The culture difference is not quite as great as I thought it would be, I guess being a European country we have a lot of the same influences from America and England. However it is interesting to see how the people in Sweden are shyer than Australia, but are still just as friendly. I think this is pretty cool however it means that you really have to go out of your way to talk to people and be very proactive in meeting people, as they will not be so keen to talk to you straight away.
I have only been here 5 weeks so I'm still settling in, but so far I have been enjoying myself very much and I can't wait to discover more of Sweden!
